As a student at LQD High School, I've had the privilege of taking on a leadership role that has not only allowed me to develop essential skills but also contributed significantly to the smooth running of our class activities. Since September 2023, I’ve been serving as the Class Academic Vice Monitor, a position that has brought immense responsibility and growth.
From the very beginning, managing academic records was one of my core duties. This involved tracking attendance, keeping up with homework submissions, and monitoring academic performance for each of my classmates. It might sound like a simple task, but the real challenge came in ensuring that every student stayed on top of their work. I quickly learned how to keep things organized, manage data efficiently, and communicate effectively with both students and teachers to make sure no one fell behind. It was about finding the balance between helping others and holding everyone accountable.
Another key responsibility in this role was coordinating group projects and subject-based assignments. Our class worked on several collaborative projects over the year, and I was often the one to help divide tasks based on each student’s strengths. It wasn’t just about assigning tasks; it was about fostering teamwork, ensuring that every member contributed meaningfully, and maintaining a sense of cohesion within the group. It gave me a chance to practice my organizational skills, but more importantly, I learned how to motivate and support my peers in ways that helped them succeed.
In addition to managing academic work, I also played a crucial role in supporting our teachers in maintaining discipline and ensuring smooth classroom activities. I worked closely with teachers to help create an environment where students could focus on learning. Whether it was encouraging quieter students to participate more or helping to settle minor disruptions, I felt a sense of pride knowing that I was contributing to a classroom atmosphere where everyone could thrive. It wasn’t just about enforcing rules, but also about understanding the needs of my classmates and working collaboratively to create a positive and productive environment.
This experience as Class Academic Vice Monitor has been one of the most rewarding roles I’ve taken on during my high school journey. It has taught me valuable lessons in leadership, time management, and teamwork. I’ve learned how to communicate effectively with both peers and teachers, how to stay organized, and how to be a supportive and approachable leader. Looking back, I can see how much I’ve grown in this role, and I’m excited to continue applying these skills in the future.
Being the Class Academic Vice Monitor has not only allowed me to contribute to my class but has also shaped me into a more responsible, empathetic, and confident individual. I’m grateful for this opportunity and look forward to taking on more leadership challenges in the years to come.
